Jungle House Publications is proud to announce the 2009 Eric Hoffer Award in the Legacy Fiction category, First Runner-Up, for DILLO - A Baby Armadillo's Adventure on Sanibel Island, by Kyle L. Miller, Illustrated by Randon T. Eddy.

Published in 2005, DILLO is a favorite chapter book for kids 6 -10, and a popular storybook for daycare centers, libraries, children's storytellers, and teachers in grades 2 - 5. Ask about our teachers guide when you call.

DILLO - A Baby Armadillo's Adventure on Sanibel Island, is a fully illustrated, hardcover storybook, for ages 6 to 12. It is an enthralling wildlife story about a baby armadillo who is born with a birth defect, a permanent smile. Dillo's sisters become jealous of the attention she gets from their mother, so they take her far from home, and leave her lost and alone in the wildlife refuge. On her often frightening, sometimes fun, and always educational journey back home, Dillo meets many of the animals in the refuge. Some of the animals become friends and some are foes. The adventure takes place in the Bailey Tract, a part of the J.N. "Ding" Darling National Wildlife Refuge on Sanibel Island, Florida. Visitors can walk the same trails that Dillo followed on her way home.

DILLO is a wonderful introduction to Florida wildlife and a fun adventure story for families.

DILLO: The Coloring Book, illustrated by Randon T. Eddy, is a perfect companion to the storybook, DILLO. The book features 32 pages of beautifully outlined, Sanibel Island wildlife drawings, and a blank page on the reverse side of each, so children can explore their own creativity. The Mysterious Creature, also by Randon T. Eddy, is a fully illustrated, 32 page, picture book for children ages 4 - 6. A rumor is spread around by the animals in the Land of Everywhere about a mysterious creature roaming the land. The creature turns out to be a big surprise in the end. The moral of the story focuses on rumors and the negative consequences they bring about.
