News Release: NBC Ch. 2 News Video - Trouper Raccoon



October 5, 2011 Sanibel Island, Florida Local children's book author, Kyle L. Miller, was interviewed, along with Dot Lee and Trouper, the blind raccoon, Thursday, Sept 29, 2011, on NBC Channel 2 News at 11:00 a.m.

Kyle L. Miller, a Sanibel resident and author of wildlife storybooks for children was interviewed along with Dot Lee, caretaker of Trouper, the blind raccoon, on Thursday, September 29, 2011, on the NBC Channel 2 morning news at 11 a.m.

Trouper is the subject of an forthcoming book for the whole family, One More Day, the Story of Trouper the Blind Raccoon, by Kyle L. Miller. The book chronicles the rescue, by wildlife rehabilitator, Dorothy Lee, of an eight week old critically injured raccoon in North Carolina. It includes his follow up treatment, rehabilitation, and move to Florida. Relocating to Florida was necessary to save this unique and physically challenged raccoon's life.

Trouper is blind, cannot smell, cannot climb, or feed himself. He has become an animal ambassador and travels with "Miss Dot" and Ms. Miller for educational wildlife presentations.

Ms. Miller is the author of the 2009 Eric Hoffer award winning book, DILLO - A Baby Armadillo's Adventure on Sanibel Island , and the 2011 Florida Publishers Association, President's Book Award winning book, Snowy Pea and the Ghost Crab. Both books were illustrated by Sanibel, FL artist, Randon T. Eddy.
